Le Hautbois

Le Hautbois is a very old alpine farmhouse, nestled in the heart of nature and surrounded by beautiful panoramas of the surrounding peaks, with several nearby points offering sweeping, magical views over the entire Mont Blanc massif.

We have fully restored and fitted it out according to traditional craftsmanship: old-style woodwork, natural materials, carefully considered design, and high-quality equipment.

This distinctive combination of setting and materials gives the chalet a true character, in an atmosphere that is simple, gentle, and warm. The refined interplay between raw elements and more sophisticated features is the source of its charm… but also of its fragility.

This is why we welcome only guests who will appreciate the chalet for what it is and treat it—as well as its environment—with respect.

Accordingly, your booking constitutes acceptance of our House Rules and, more broadly, reflects a certain alignment with the spirit of the chalet and its location.

It is a pleasure for us to open the doors of our chalet to you.

Yours sincerely,
Sylvie & Xavier

House Rules

Nothing surprising nor unusual:

We exclude any parties, disturbances, or noise and behavioural nuisances. This applies from the very start of the private access road leading to the chalet, which is shared only with the neighbouring chalet (300 m away).

Smoking, or any other use of fire, is strictly forbidden within 50 metres of the chalet. Our insurance conditions are drafted to secure enforcement of all liability claims in the event of a breach.

Smooth Communication

To help us organise your arrival and access to the chalet, please inform us as early as possible of your expected arrival time, then send us a message about one hour before you reach the area. Sharing your progress via WhatsApp is ideal.

Personal Welcome

We make a point of welcoming our Guests in person. We set a meeting point below the chalet from which we guide you up. The rendez-vous point is in front of the fountain in the centre of the Plan parking area (on the left after the chapel).

The parking area continues along a small path by the stream, which then forks onto the (private) access road to the chalet. This is a small, winding mountain track of about 700 m, starting along the Arrondine stream at the hamlet of Le Plan (1,200 m) and ending at the entrance of our chalet (1,352 m).

Access Procedure

Depending on the season and whether there is snow:

Without snow: You may simply follow me with your vehicle. If you have a large amount of luggage, I can take up to four guests and their belongings in my 4×4.

With snow: Depending on road conditions, your vehicle type, its equipment, and its load, we will decide on the best approach.

A private contractor clears the road whenever snowfall reaches 15 cm, including at night if needed.

Thus, under most circumstances,

A 4×4 equipped with winter tyres reaches the chalet without difficulty.

A 2×2 can also manage the ascent if all favourable conditions are present: compact snow, winter tyres and/or snow chains, sufficient ground clearance, and an experienced driver.

Although rare, there are occasions when chains are required for all vehicles due to snow structure or ice formation. This can also be the case on the roads leading to the ski resort, especially near the Col des Aravis.

In all cases, we consider it essential that our Guests have at their disposal a vehicle designed to safely and effortlessly handle all situations encountered on the access road. For this reason, a small six-seater Can-Am Traxter with luggage bed (SSV type), dedicated to the access road, is provided with the rental. It offers exceptional manoeuvrability, stability, traction, and towing capacity.
